Picking Thе Right Boаt

Thеrе аrе two questions thаt should bе considеrеd whеn choosing thе right boаt: “Whаt will bе thе fishing for?” аnd “whеrе will thе fishing аctivitiеs bе?” Alwаys look for thе signs of quаlity chеck thе cаrpеt аnd thе compаrtmеnts – thеy could bе plаstic, mеtаl or fibеrglаss. Look аt thе littlе but vеry importаnt things likе thе 1000 GPH bilgе pump, thе six gаugе wiring instеаd of tеn or еight thаt is bеcаusе hеаviеr wirеs givеs morе powеr from thе battery up to thе trolling motor.

Thеrе is Fivе Stаr Advantаgе thаt rаngеr dеаlеrs oftеn spеаk to thеir customеrs: Quаlity, Sаfеty, Innovаtion, Pеrformаncе, аnd Vаluе. Bеlow is а list of must hаvе things whеn buying your first boаt.

Tow Vеhiclе – This is onе of thе most importаnt piеcе of your еquipmеnt, еnsurеd thаt hаs thе rаting to gеt thе job donе likе loаding up to 3500 lbs. of wеight thаt could еаsily pull thе boаt up thе hills аnd mountаinous trеks.

Bаss Boаts – For first timеrs, considеr а sеcond hаnd boаt. This will bе а triаl аnd еrror stаgе whеrе fishing skills cаn bе testеd. Considеr а lаrgеr boаt, which is аbout 19 fееt with 20 to 30 milеs spееd for lаrgеr bodiеs of wаtеr.

Aluminum – In smаllеr lаkеs, а 16-18 foot аluminum boаt is а good choicе. It is chеаpеr thаn fibеrglаss аnd morе forgiving of bаngs, running up into shаllows аnd hitting stumps аnd rocks. Thе only downsidе is thаt it ridеs roughеr еvеn with thе slightest winds.

Fibеrglаss – This two-strokе еnginе is much morе еxpеnsivе which could cost from $20,000 to аs much аs $50,000. Thе good thing with this boаt is thаt it could hаndlе biggеr, roughеr wаtеr аnd still givе you а smooth ridе.

Brаnd nеw vеrsus Sеcond Hаnd – Buying а sеcond hаnd boаt is not only chеаpеr but holds thеir vаluе longеr аnd bеttеr. Thе downsidе is thаt you’ll probаbly inhеrit somеonе еlsе’s troublеs. During cаsuаl inspеction, outboardеnginеs problеms аrе not еаsily idеntifiеd. Thе best thing to do is bring somеonе you trust with you to inspеct а prospеctivе boаt or buy from somеonе you know instеаd.

Hаndling thе Boаt – Listеn to thе pitch chаngе whеn trimming down. Although it will bе vеry difficult for beginners likе trying to lаunch аnd rеtriеvе thе boаt bаcking it down thе rаmp. Nеvеr worry, bеcаusе еvеryonе pаssеd thаt stаgе аnd thеrе’s no boаt ownеr thаt is not willing to hеlp а first timеr learn. Sometimes аll it tаkеs is just 4 hours to learn thе bаsics.

Buying а drеamboаt is vеry еxciting. It is not thе boаt thаt rеаlly matters but thе еxperiences thаt comе with fishing.

Whitetail Hunting Trips In Iowa – October Deer Hunting Tips

Whitetail Hunting Trips In Iowa

Bow hunting seasons are now open in most states. Here in Wisconsin we have been hunting for a few weeks now. We have passed up shots at some smaller bucks. The bigger deer have failed to show themselves yet.

Now is the time to hunt close to the bedding areas. The deer have sensed the change in the seasons and have noticed the increased human activity in the woods. The mature bucks will most likely stay bedded until just before dark, so set as close to the bedding area as you can without spooking the deer. I watched a doe come out of the swamp ½ hour before dark, but no bucks came out.

This weekend us here at AWH will be heading to Iowa for our first hunt down there this year. Our goal is to bring back three big does. The farm we hunt has a lot of does and we need to our part in trimming the herd. By shooting a few does, we will help keep the buck /doe ratio more balanced. This will cause more competition for the breeding bucks, come November. This will make the bucks to respond better to calling, rattling, and decoying. The second thing that shooting does will do is that there will be less deer eating the farmers crops, and it’s good to keep the farmers happy. He will be more apt to let you hunt if your do him a favor by shooting more deer. So if you have a doe tag, now is the time to fill it. You can then be very selective with your buck tag. October is also a good time to hunt different stands then you normally hunt. I have a tendency to hunt a certain stand that has always produced good bucks in the past. But it is set close to the bedding area and I believe that the bucks will sit tight till dark and then they here you get down from your stand and walk out of the woods. When this starts happening it’s time to let that stand rest for a while. I will then hunt other stands that I don’t hunt too much. You might catch deer leaving the bedding area from a different direction and get a shot at them by hunting the other stand.

We have scouted out some new hunting areas the last time we were in Iowa, so this weekend we will hang a stand or two in the new spots and hunt them a few times. You must always be looking for new spots to hunt, unless you buy the land yourself, you will eventually lose it. We always are looking at new places to hunt. On this hunt we will hunt the mornings and evenings, and then scout during the middle of the day. Hopefully we will come across and great, new honey hole. Whitetail Hunting Trips In Iowa

As October progresses, It will be the time that I start hunting mornings, I don’t hunt mornings too often during the early part of the season. I have found that the mature bucks have usually gone back to the bedding area by first light. But as we get to the later part of the month you will start to see some scrapes and rubs made by the younger bucks as they start sensing that some does are coming into heat. This is the time to start doing some calling and rattling. This technique has worked for me in the past. I hunted a Saturday morning in late October, I was sitting in my funnel stand and I decided to do some rattling. A half hour after I rattled I looked to the north towards the funnel and a deer with nice polished antlers was looking my way. I got ready and as if on cue, it moved in front of me and I drew when it went behind a tree. It stepped out into one of my shooting lanes that we had cut way back in August, and I put the pin on it and I watched my arrow disappear into its chest. It was a great feeling when all are hard work paid off and everything went to plan.

Are you still shooting your bow? It is always a good idea to keep shooting during the season to keep sharp. I keep a target in my truck and before I go into the woods I shoot a few practice arrows to make sure that I am still on. You don’t need to shoot 100 arrows every day; you just need a few here and there to keep yourself sharp.

If you are experiencing the dreaded “October Lull” have faith the deer will be on the move again. Hunt some less disturbed stands, hunt at different times, keep shooting and remember that the rut is only a few weeks away. Whitetail Hunting Trips In Iowa

Florida Travel — Miami Travel: Bicycling in Downtown Miami and Miami Beach

As the cold weather starts to settle in over Canada, it’s always a real treat to get away to a warm and sunny destination. And there is no closer and more convenient destination from Toronto than Florida. So I used up some of my Airmiles to book flights for my husband and me to Miami. On November 27, 2010 we arrived at the Miami Airport, picked up our rental car and drove north to the City of Weston, where we would be spending a week at the Mizner Place Resort in a well-equipped one-bedroom apartment. On Sunday, November 28, 2010, I drove south into Miami to do some sightseeing where I visited Villa Vizcaya, an opulent mansion that was constructed between 1914 and 1919 for James Deering, an industrialist and heir to the International Harvester fortune. Built in a Venetian and Renaissance revival style, this National Historic Landmark impresses with its interior courtyard, its formal reception rooms, lavish private living quarters and its breathtaking location on Biscayne Bay. My explorations continued on Monday with a trip into downtown Fort Lauderdale where I explored the Las Olas Riverfront. Las Olas Boulevard is Fort Lauderdale’s most popular shopping avenue and the Las Olas Riverfront is an entertainment complex that features several restaurants, nightclubs and retail outlets, all set on a scenic waterfront promenade along the New River. On November 30, 2010 I headed off again to another interesting destination in Miami: the Spanish Monastery at St. Bernard de

Mountain Climbing For Everybody

All beginners interested in the sport of mountaineering should take great care to familiarize themselves with the basics of the discipline. Before a climber decides to take that first plunge, they should learn some of the basic building blocks of a solid technique. Rappelling, belaying, anchor systems, locking carabiner, rope handling and management, climbing knots, and this can be often overlooked but will save your life-wilderness survival.
Women engage in different extreme sports and mountain climbing proves to be an added challenge to their ability. There are many rewards associated with mountain climbing, many women dedicate their lives to reach the highest and the most difficult peak they can climb.
As climbers ascend, they meet different elements such as thinner air and colder temperatures. If they climb the mountain too quickly, they will not be used to the new environment, and they will be out of their comfort zone. The same principle holds true for those of you who are climbing your own mountains, and striving for goals. As you climb higher to reach your goals, you will experience a different feeling.
You may feel overwhelmed, like the mountaineer who is at base camp, knowing that he has many steps to climb. You may feel excited, like the mountaineer who has just hit the middle of the mountain, knowing that the peak is within reach. You may feel proud of yourself, like the mountaineer who has reached the summit, knowing that he obtained his goal. However, how can you climb the mountain to your goals? What you should do fist is write down the goals when you at the bottom. If you want to be happy, write down how you will accomplish this. If you want to make more money, list details such as wanting to increase your income by 15% next year.
Before climbing, check on the temperature. Because mountain climbing can include rock and ice climbing, a climber can expect a subzero to extremely hot temperature. In addition, there can be loose rock on the route. The climber should check the condition of lower offs and bolts. Proper gear such as jackets, pants and helmets should be prepared, but we should select proper boots, Puma shoes is worth Recommend. Gears and equipment should be matched to the temperature when the planned climb will be executed. These things are essential once there is an increase in potential fall and slope angle. So be safe, and have fun!

Is Bicycling Dangerous? Death Statistics

In order to try to compare relative risk, I averaged the data from the last ten years. I believe this will give a more accurate picture. I used studies by other researchers to compare my findings. Although, my numbers are not exactly the same as theirs, I used a different data set. I am basing my numbers on a ten year estimated average US population of 295 million. My data includes all riders of different ages and experience. No one really knows for sure the number of bicyclist. Bicycle statistics are particularly difficult to find. I did my best to be fair and accurate. I used the estimated number of bicycles from other sources when possible. And, I estimated numbers by figuring percentages from years with known data. For example, I estimated a 10 year average of 42.5 million bicycle riders averaging 566 miles each. The average mileage was determined from 12 studies, which had enough information to determine average mileage. My own yearly average is 3000 miles. I know that some of you travel 10000 miles per year. But, most bicycle riders do not ride their bicycles that many miles. This gives an estimated total of 25.3 billion bicycle miles traveled. The average fatality rate over ten years is 716 bicyclist deaths per year. Divide the number of fatalities by the bicycle miles traveled and multiply by 100 million and you get 2.98 fatalities per 100 million bicycle miles traveled. I rounded it off to 3 to make it simple. 250 million motor vehicle drivers and passengers

bicycling the Montour Trail to the Panhandle Trail

I leave the GAP and jump on the Clairton Connector Trail and then on to the Montours Trail. I ride from McKeesport PA to McDonald PA in this video. There are several small towns along the Montour Trail but there are many sections that are not well marked or are on surface streets. When you get to the Panhandle Connector,, go down the hill to the parking area/trailhead… and continue following it. There are ZERO signs that say it goes to the Panhandle Trail. Of course you can just go into town, grocery store, restaurants etc, and just ask around like I did thisvideo filmed with Flip UltraHD video camcorder, 4gb internal memory, edited with Windows Live Movie Maker on an HP Mini 210 running Windows 7 and uploaded at Best American Value Inn in Decatur IN “Easy Jam” Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons “Attribution 3.0″ www.creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/
